Contest regulations

1.  General provisions

- Photography contest “Life is Beautiful” (hereinafter referred to as “Contest”) is organized on the territory of Poland by Kielce Centre of Culture situated in Kielce, 25-334 Plac Moniuszki 2b (hereinafter referred to as “Organizer”). The present regulations specify the organizational rules of the Contest.

- The President of the City of Kielce and Kielce Centre of Culture are the founders of the awards.

- Only adult persons or under-age persons represented by their parents or guardians can take part in the Contest, exclusive of:

a)      employees or parties of the civil law agreements concluded by the Organizer or its subsidiaries

b)      other persons that have taken part in Contest organization

c)      immediate relatives to persons listed above in a) and b), that is, people being a spouse, ascendant, descendant, sibling, relative by affinity or their spouse, also a person remaining in the state of cohabitation

 

 

2.  Duration of the Contest

Contest organized by the Organizer: deadline for sending works – 8 October 2010, date of granting the awards – 4 December 2010, 7.00 p.m.

 

 

3.  Contest Commitee

In order to guarantee the correct organization and progress of the Contest, and in particular, in order to assess the correctness of the submitted entries and select the winners, the Organizer has appointed the contest committee (hereinafter referred to as “Jury”)

Jury sessions will take part in two stages.

  • In Stage I – Jury composed of distinguished photographers will select 24 nominee photographical works. Members of the Jury: Mariusz Wideryński (Chairman of ZG ZPAF), Prof. Jarnuszkiewicz – Arts Council ZPAF, Witold Krasowski - ZPAF, Lidia Popiel – Lecturer of Warsaw Film School, Andrzej Borys (Chairman of OŚ ZPAF).
  • In Stage II – Jury appointed by the Organizers, composed of people from the world of culture not associated with photography will choose 12 works – the laureates of this contest.


4. Artisic Works submission Terms and Conditions

1.      The Contest is open to all photographers.

2.      The subject of artistic works is associated with the title of the Contest.

3.      Only new, previously not published works will be admitted to the Contest.

4.      Each participant is allowed to send up to 5 separate works (not more).

5.      All artistic works must have the shape of vertical rectangle – very important!

6.      Works must be submitted only in digital form on CD or DVD records.

7.      Technical conditions for submitted works:

Resolution of the shorter side min. 2250 pixels, sides proportions 3:4, photographs can not be enlarged digitally, accepted formats: tif, jpg; colour mode of the file: 8 bit per channel, profile sRGB, the name of the file should include the emblem of the author and single-digit number of the photograph (also in case of submitting only one photograph) and alternatively the title, according to the pattern: emblem_number.tif or emblem_number_title.tif

8.      Each participant has the right to only one application.

9.      Submitted works inconsistent with the above conditions will be rejected.

10.  Submited CD and DVD records will not be returned.

All works inconsistent with the above technical conditions will be rejected.


11.  Submitted photographical works recorded on CD or DVD, signed with the author’s emblem, should have an envelope containing the author’s data: name, surname, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number enclosed.

a)      Participant submitting a photograph to the Contest

-         states, that the photograph does not infinge rights and personal interests of third parties, is free from legal defects and its content is congruent with the applicable law;

-         grants royalty-free, unexclusive licence to the Organizer to use the photograph in the range indispensable for publication on www. sites or in the press for promotional purposes

-         grants permition to the Organizer to execute the subsidiary rights to the photograph in the range indispensable for publication in: callendar, on web site and publications associated with promotion of the Contest

-         photographs submitted to the Contest can not include illegal or violating the principles of civil coexistence contents, in particular, vulgar, obscene, promoting violence, racial or religious hatred

-         results of the Contest will be published on web site www.kck.com.pl

 


5. Prize reception

-         The Laureates will be informed about the fact of receiving the awards by e-mail or by phone (the Organizer will send such information to the e-mail address of the Laureate within 24 hours from the Contest results announcement and will publish it on the web site www.kck.com.pl )

-         The Laureate is obliged to receive the e-mail message and confirm in the same way that they have received the message; they are also obliged to send their personal data for preparation of the documents. The prize will be received by the Laureate personally during the Gala on the 4th of December 2010, 7.00 p.m., in Kielce Centre of Culture

-         In case the Laureate is not able to receive the award peronally on the date of 04.12.2010, the Organizer will send the prize to the Laureate within 30 days, at the given address.

-         The Organizer, if obliged to according to Article 30, Paragraph 1, Clause 2 of Income Tax Act of Individuals from 26.07.1991 (Dz.U.nr 14 poz. 176 from 2000), before granting the awards will calculate, collect and transfer 10% flat income tax from the value of the prize to the appropriate Revenue Office.

 


6. Final provisions

- All complaints related to the Contest must be raised to the Organizer in written form, at their given above address, together with particular substantiation, under penalty of expiration of any claims of particular person that refer to the Contest, not later than within 14 days from the date of the end of duration of the Contest. The complaints connected with the Contest will be arbitrated by the Contest Committee within 14 days form the date of placing the complaint. The decision of the Committee arbitrating the complaint is ultimate, non-reversible and without the right to appeal.

-         The Organizer stipulates that they do not bear responsibility for:

a)      occurences disenabling the correct progress of the Contest, that the Organizer could not predict or could not prevent, in case of fortuitous events, including irresistible force

b)      not delivering/the prize to the participant caused by not giving the address data or giving incorrect address data by the participant

c)      postal services provided by Poczta Polska and courier companies

-         By declaring their participation in the Contest and taking part in it the participant conforms to the provisions of present contest regulations and agrees to their content.

-         Provisions of present contest regulations are the legal basis for conducting the Contest and its interpretation appertains only to the Contest Commitee.

-         The Organizer reserves the right to chanage the rules of the Contest, including the content of the present contest regulations during the progrss of the Contest.
