Contest rules and regulations

"Life Is Beautiful" – is the All-Polish Photography Contest, the founding father of which is The President of the City of Kielce – Wojciech Lubawski. The Kielce Centre of Culture is the Organizer under the petronage of the Association of Polish Art Photographers.

The Aim of the Contest is building up a collection of photography works. The gallery is promoted with a collectible callendar (limited series of 1000 copies) consisting of 12 rewarded photos. 

"Is life beautiful?" – We answer "Yes". For our artists beauty has always a different countenance. Once it is a couple of old people whose fashion has already gone but the beauty enclosed in a tender look has remained. The other time it is a boy from a poor quarter with a charming, sincere and yet happy smile. For still others beauty is rain, the roofs of the houses, yellow pumpkins in the garden. Beauty is elusive but caught in the frame lives forever.

The callendar is published in December. In the time when the year ends. Also in December, we open the gallery of rewarded photographs on the "crown" of our enormous Centre. The photographs will accompany the citizens of Kielce, the guests and tourists visiting us for the following 12 months. The photograms are highlighted with dimensions of: 2.50 x 3.30 m.

Thanks to the initiative of the Association of Polish Art Photographers the works visit various galleries in the country for a year.

Our contest has a two-stage quality. During the first stage professional and independent jury pick out 24 from among all submited photographs. In the second stage "the callendar 12" is chosen from them.

People who nominate photographs for the callendar do not occupy themselves with potography in everyday life but look at the world surrounding us through the prism of their sensitivity, passing it upon different fields of art. Therefore, among others these are: directors, actors, reporters, museum curators. It is an "interdisciplinary" jury.

Dear contestants, grasp your cameras in your hands, look around and freeze in a photo frame what, in your opinion, is most beautiful.
